How do changes get made?
All kerbside space on the public highway in the Borough is managed by Traffic Management Orders (TMOs). TMOs are statutory legal documents that give the Council the authority to implement and enforce traffic or parking restrictions and are made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 legislation.
Restrictions are categorised into two groups:
- static restrictions all parking and/or waiting, stopping and loading restrictions; and
- moving restrictions any restrictions to moving traffic (for example, ‘one-way’ operations, ‘no entry’ points, or bus lanes/gates)
We consult on all changes to permanent traffic orders before the order is made. There are also some non-statutory consultations such as for cycle hangars, bike stands, and tree pits which can be found in our main Consultation page.
We would really like to hear your views on proposals - get involved in our consultations.
